# How to add a nicotine booster to an e-liquid?

The new European Union directives on tobacco products limit the purchase of e-liquid volumes to a ceiling of 10 ml. For those who manufacture their e-liquid, an addition of a booster to the liquid of 0 mg/ml is essential. This article is a nicotine booster tutorial to help you prepare your DIY.

The nicotine booster is an e-liquid devoid of flavour and overdosed in nicotine. To be consumable, it must be mixed with a PG/VG base, depending on your nicotine needs.

## How to properly dose your nicotine booster in a neutral base?

To obtain your e-liquid at the desired dose of nicotine, you must mix the base at 0 mg/ml, and the nicotine booster at the available dose. You need to have a larger volume container for the mixture.

### Example 1: make 10 ml of e-liquid dosed at 3 mg/ml from a 20 mg/ml booster

The question to ask is: how much base is needed at 0 mg/ml and how much booster is needed at 20 mg/ml to obtain 10 ml of e-liquid dosed at 3 mg/ml?

*Formula: *

Booster volume at 20 mg/ml = (Desired dosage x Desired volume)/20.

**For example:**

**Desired dosage = 3 mg/ml**

**Quantity of e-liquid to manufacture = 10 ml**

**The amount of nicotine booster to have the desired amount of 10 ml will be: (3 x 10)/20 or 30/20= 1.5 ml. **

**You will therefore mix 1.5 ml of booster at (10-1.5) = 8.5 ml of base at 0 mg/ml to have 10 ml dosed at 20 mg/ml of e-liquid.**

### Example 2: making 20 ml of e-liquid dosed at 6 mg/ml from a 20 mg/ml nicotine booster

You want to have 20 ml of e-liquid dosed at 6 mg/ml. The questions you need to answer are: “how much nicotine booster do you need to have 20ml of e-liquid dosed at 6mg/ml and how much base do you need to add at 0mg/ml? “.

Let X be the booster volume at 20 mg/ml. The necessary quantity X, of nicotine booster to obtain 20 ml dosed at 6 mg/ml is: X = 6 (desired nicotine dosage) x 20 (desired quantity of e-liquid)/20 i.e. (6 x20)/20 = 6 ml of nicotine booster.

To have the desired 20 ml of e-liquid dosed at 20 mg/ml, you add 20-6 = 14 ml of base at 0 mg/ml

**Booster Volume = (Desired Dose X Desired Volume)/20**

**And the base volume at 0 mg/ml is:**

**Base volume at 0 mg/ml = Desired volume – Booster volume**

It then becomes possible to manufacture an e-liquid with a dose of nicotine according to your needs.

For low nicotine dosages, the mixture must be well formalised before use. No waiting time is necessary, because once the mixture is made, you stir it.
